If you are what you eat, I am definitely homemade roasted pumpkin seeds with sea salt.
So that would essentially make this a self portrait, right?
Random things I have learned today that I shall share with you (you're welcome):

- There is a species of deer that has retractable fangs
- Snails can crawl along the edge of a razor without cutting themselves
- There's a dating website for zombies
- Japan has a national Tom Cruise day

This week has been pretty shitty overall. It's making my decision whether or not to get out of bed more difficult. I have a to-do list to tackle, though, so I should really get a move on. I could use some breakfast too. There are still some eggs downstairs. A fried egg sandwhich with a runny yolk would be amazing. Maybe that'll cure the lethargy. That oughta do it. Okay, decision made. I'm getting out of bed and making eggs. And toast. There Will Be Toast. |

I've had cafeteria food, vending machine junk and take out since the weather's cleared. Enough us enough! I need to go grocery shopping. But first...I need to compile a list. I managed to scrounge enough to eat that I won't be hungry while grocery shopping, but if I don't make a list...let's just say it'll be madness and leave it at that. |

My basement has flooded. While I have insurance and material things are easy to replace over time, this is still a huge stressful, pain in the ass to deal with. |

Since I'm stuck in the hospital, I decided to try and entertain some of the kids in the pediatrics wing. I think they wound up entertaining me more than I've entertained them. Also I have read Green Eggs & Ham eight times, watched about two hours of music videos I barely recognized the songs to, thus making me feel ancient helped weave three friendship bracelets, lost myself 6 thumb wars, got my ass handed to me in a poker game and wound up feeding my last $5 to a vending machine to pay my candy poker debt, got in trouble for finding rope to make some jumpe ropes and letting some kids double dutch in the hall, then got in trouble for face painting with finger paints (hey, they wash off!), got in trouble for encouraging wheel chair races...and have watched Rio, Tangled and Rango.
I am exhausted.

I don't know how I've lived winters here so long without a heated toilet seat. They are amazing. Seriously, hands down the best purchase I have made to date. I have been seeing commercials for a jacket where you press a button on it and it heats up to warm you up. I would have already bought one for myself, and a set of gloves that match and do the same...if the jacket wasn't $750. That's seriously ridiculous. Maybe I'll start a heated jacket fund jar for myself. |

If you fail to get your child a flu shot and s/he comes down with the flu and is completely miserable for 3 - 7 days give or take, then it is your fault as a parent. Even if you don't have insurance there are multiple free clinics that cater to you. So don't complain to me that your precious little angel child isn't getting any relief from the cold medicine and extra fluids you are pumping into them. Of course they aren't! They're sick. Think about how you feel when you have the flu even when you take over the counter crap.
There I said it. Blanket statement, pointed at no one in particular. I'm just saying. Don't keep your kid from getting a flu shot because of some myth or sensationalized lie the mass media spreads to scare people when they have nothing else to report on.
In other news, temperatures like this morning always make me lament the fact that I didn't get a job at a hospital in Hawaii. What was I thinking? |

Christmas shopping successfully done, and before December even. I consider that a success. That gives me Thursday and Friday to decide what I want to do to decorate my house this year. I think I'll stick to the minimal as usual.
In other news, Christmas music is just fine, but is there really a need to play it nonstop? I think they do things like that as a form of torture in other countries, to drive people crazy. Sooooo....yeah. Then again, I did see someone seriously rocking out to Christmas Wrapping in their truck the other day and that was highly amusing.
